Pursuing a New "Vision" for Over Two Decades: The Sinopec Lifeline Express Illuminates the Road to Hope
With its vibrant rainbow exterior and eye-catching double-decker design equipped with advanced ophthalmology equipment, the Lifeline Express operates as a mobile hospital, delivering surgical services directly to those in need. Sinopec has been a key supporter of this initiative through its Sinopec Lifeline Express program, which is dedicated to eliminating preventable blindness and strengthening eye care services at the grassroots level. By bringing cutting-edge medical resources to underserved areas, the Company has continued to deliver high-quality healthcare to local communities, restoring sight and hope to cataract patients in disadvantaged regions. For 19 consecutive years, the program has received the Special Award for Brightness Merit, and has been honored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the SASAC as both the "Best Volunteer Service Program in China" and the "Excellent Volunteer Service Program of Central State-Owned Enterprises".
Delivering Sight and Hope for Over Two Decades
Since 2004, Sinopec has been a committed supporter of the Lifeline Express charitable initiative. In 2007, the Company contributed CNY 30 million to build the Sinopec Lifeline Express—the first and only train funded by an enterprise from the Chinese mainland and dedicated exclusively to charitable ophthalmic services. which has since been recognized as a key national project for blindness prevention and treatment. Every year, the Sinopec Lifeline Express travels to three regions across China, staying three months at each site and performing an average of 3,000 free surgeries. Its medical team consists of leading Chinese ophthalmologists renowned for their expertise. Upon arrival, they also provide hands-on training to local healthcare professionals, enhancing local hospitals' ophthalmic capabilities in diagnosis, surgery, and treatment.
This purpose-built train travels throughout China, restoring vision to more than 1,000 patients at every stop. In 2024, Sinopec marked its 21st year of participation in the Lifeline Express public welfare initiative. Over the past two decades, more than 9,000 youth volunteers have contributed over 320,000 hours of service. The train has visited 50 locations across 19 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, performed 60,000 free cataract surgeries, and helped establish 26 Lifeline Express Eye Centers nationwide. These centers are "mobile hospitals that never leave", continuing to support local communities long after the Sinopec Lifeline Express departs.

2024 Brightness Relay
The Sinopec Lifeline Express continues to deliver light, warmth, and hope to communities in need. Wherever the train travels, it provides on-site surgeries, restoring sight and delivering hope through compassion. In 2024, the train provided free cataract surgeries to 3,054 underserved patients during its stops in Zhumadian (Henan), Dingxi (Gansu), and Fuzhou (Jiangxi). The program also included public health education activities aimed at raising awareness, particularly among the youth.
"You're the Most Beautiful, Walk with Light"
In 2024, Sinopec made great efforts to promote its "Protect Vision from Childhood" program as part of the "You're the Most Beautiful, Walk with Light" Eye Care Campaign for Children—an outreach program extending the warmth and mission of the Sinopec Lifeline Express. This program brings eye health awareness to grassroots-level schools, fostering a culture of care and protection for children's vision. In 2024, the campaign reached primary schools in Dongxiang (Gansu) and Fuzhou (Jiangxi), offering eye health lectures, interactive educational activities, vision screenings, and short video presentations to equip children with essential knowledge, raise awareness, and inspire lasting attention to eye health from a young age.
