China's first domestically built dual-fuel methanol bunkering vessel Da Qing 268 has come into operation at Yantian Port, Shenzhen. Da Qing 268 supplied 200 metric tonnes of green methanol fuel to the container ship COSCO Shipping Carnation. This refueling task contributed to the construction of a world-class green shipping hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
This vessel is operated by a joint venture company under Sinopec Fuel Oil Sales Co., Ltd. It employs a dual-fuel power system combining methanol and traditional fuels.
The methanol supplied this time has been certified as green fuel by ISCC EU and has undergone carbon traceability testing by international institutions. Throughout its entire life cycle, the greenhouse gas emission of the fuel can be reduced over 85%, which provides a Chinese solution for the green and low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry.
