Sinopec and Iceland Orka Energy Signed Cooperative Agreement

Witnessed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Icelandic Premier Johanna Sigurdardottir, Mr. Fu Chengyu, Chairman of Sinopec Group, and Mr. Haukur Harðarson, Chairman of Orka Energy Holding Ehf, signed a FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT on Expansion of Geothermal Development Scope and Cooperation on the afternoon of April 20, 2012.

Witnessed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Icelandic Premier Johanna Sigurdardottir, Mr. Fu Chengyu, Chairman of Sinopec Group, and Mr. Haukur Harðarson, Chairman of Orka Energy Holding Ehf, signed a FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT on Expansion of Geothermal Development Scope and Cooperation on the afternoon of April 20, 2012.

Icelandic President Olafur R. Grimsson met Sinopec Chairman Fu Chengyu in Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland, on the morning of April 20.

After reveiwing Iceland’s more than 60 year long history in developing and utilizing geothermal resources, President Olafur R. Grimsson expressed his high expectations on the geothermal cooperative projects between China and his country.

In response, Mr. Fu Chengyu said that, with support of the Chinese and Icelandic governments, Sinopec and Iceland Orka Energy will strengthen cooperation to develop the joint venture into a world-class technology supplier with technology R&D and application expertise and contributes to the environmental protection, employment and standard of living.

Mr. Fu also visited the Svartsengi geothermal power plant during his visit to Iceland.
