Sinopec Beijing Oil Products Company and BAIC Beijing Electric Vehicle Co. (BAIC BJEV) signed a strategic cooperation agreement on July 3 with the witness of Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology, Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Beijing Municipal Commission of Transportation and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Environment Protection. The two companies will jointly promote the application of new technologies and the development of new industries.
As environment and development constitute one of the world's most prominent contradictions today, electric vehicles (EV) are given a lot of significance. However, EV drivers have often been troubled by problems including the difficulty to find a charging station, long charging time and short mileage per charge. Sinopec Beijing Oil Products Company has over 580 service stations along the major trunk roads across Beijing, serving over 300,000 car owners every day. Through the strategic cooperation with BAIC BJEV, it will be able to turn its network to a service platform for customers to charge their EV or replace batteries, which will facilitate people's green travel.
