UNIPEC Singapore Pte. Ltd., a trading subsidiary of Sinopec, has made its first purchase of 30,000 tonnes of bio-aviation fuel from domestic market of China and will transport the biofuel to Rotterdam, Netherlands, for storage and sale. With this landmark purchase, Sinopec opens a new channel for China’s bio-aviation fuel to go overseas and boosts its brand influence in the global aviation fuel market.

Compared to traditional jet fuel, biofuel reduces carbon emissions by over 50 percent, which is of significance to decarbonization effort in global aviation industry. Since 2023, UNIPEC has been developing bio-aviation fuel business in Europe, promoting the green transition for major airports and airliners.
