In 2024, the Company comprehensively implemented the national energy security strategy, actively promoted an integrated development of new energy with core businesses, and built a multi-energy complementary, coordinated and efficient energy system. Significant progress was achieved in hydrogen energy, wind and solar power, geothermal energy, and sustainable fuels.

Hydrogen Energy

The flagship project, 20,000-tonne/year green hydrogen project in Kuqa, Xinjiang maintained safe and stable operation since fully operational in August 2023. Meanwhile, the 30,000-tonne/year integrated wind/solar-green hydrogen project in Ordos further progressed. Sinopec remained the world's largest operator of hydrogen refueling stations, with 142 stations (14 new in 2024), including its first overseas hydrogen station, Hong Kong Au Tau Integrated Energy Station. The Company's total hydrogen purification and filling capacity exceeded 40,000 Nm³/h. Up to now, the Company has established six hydrogen corridors (Beijing-Shanghai, Chengdu-Chongqing-Wanzhou, Beijing-Tianjin, Shanghai-Jiaxing-Ningbo, Jinan-Qingdao, Wuhan-Yichang), forming a "1 major + 5 regional" hydrogen transmission network.

We jointly initiated the founding of Central SOEs Green Hydrogen Production-Storage-Transmission Innovation Consortium with China Energy Investment Corporation to advance key technologies R&D and large-scale green hydrogen consumption. In addition, we commissioned China's first factory-based seawater-to-hydrogen R&D project and China's first 100-kW solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) pilot facility. During COP 29, we hosted a side event at the China corner on "Hydrogen Powering Climate Action: Toward a Clean Energy Future with Net-Zero Emissions" in Baku, Azerbaijan, the first hydrogen-themed event by a Chinese energy firm at COP conferences.

Wind and Solar for Green Electricity

Our cumulative installed capacity reached 2,126 MW, with annual green electricity generation of 1.84 billion kWh, marking significant increase in clean electricity.

Clean Heating

We maintained industry leadership with cumulative clean heating/cooling capacity exceeding 120 million square meters and waste heat utilization of nearly 50 million GJ/year by end-2024. we completed Fushenre-1 Well, Sinopec's first deep geothermal scientific exploration well. And we advanced million-square-meter geothermal heating projects, including Rongdong and High-Speed Rail Station Zone in Xiongan and the Lixiang Zhicheng" project in Shengli.

Integrated Energy

We accelerated the construction integrated energy stations network and exceeded the 14th Five-Year Plan target, adding 3,781 charging/battery-swap stations with total number reached 10,285. A total of 100,000 charging points were built and operated. We added 1,581 solar-equipped gas stations and the total number stood at 5,490. In 2024, we sold 17.29 million tonnes of E10 ethanol gasoline and around 480,000 tonnes of biodiesel.
