NEOM is a special economic zone in northwest Saudi Arabia. Recently, the first wind turbine for the wind power project in NEOM was hoisted by Sinopec Heavy Lifting & Transportation Co., Ltd. This 6.5-MW wind turbine is 100-meter high and its impeller is 171 meters in diameter, marking the world’s largest single-unit onshore wind farm under construction.

With a total installed capacity of 1.67 GW, the project is located in the northern part of THE LINE region, the center of NEOM, and next to the beautiful Red Sea. To ensure the project to run smoothly, Sinopec transported a 800-tonne main crane from Dubai, a journey spanning 2,000 kilometers by land. Additionally, nine auxiliary cranes were transported from China for the first time.
