In 2023, in domestic market, 1,003 projects covering design, consultancy, EPC, and operation were executed, 747 projects started, and 477 projects completed.

Continued Progress in Engineering Services

We enhanced project execution with high standards, quality, and efficiency, and built a batch of benchmark engineering projects of strategic importance. Shandong LNG Phase III of the world's largest and China's first 270,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tank, was delivered ahead of schedule and put into operation. A number of energy supply projects, including Lianyungang Commercial Storage, have been implemented in an orderly manner. Tianjin Nangang Ethylene Project was improved through integration and operability where modular construction was actively explored, turning into a sample project. Hainan Refining & Chemical Ethylene Project was put on stream. The Caprolactam Project of Baling Petrochemical Company was delivered. The PTA Project of Yizheng Chemical Fiber Company and Phase II of Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company pressed ahead, contributing to Sinopec's endeavour to build a world-class, high-tech and integrated refining and chemical base.

New Progress in Technological Research

Smooth developments were made in the 24 national-level subjects we undertook, 31 "ten line of technologies", and the 20 major special R&D projects. As regards to the transformation and upgrading of refining and chemical engineering, projects like RTC from Anqing Petrochemical Company, large-scale hydrocracking of Hainan Refining & Chemical Company, 2# enhanced micro-interface for diesel hydro-desulfurization were put into operation, providing technological support for the transformation and upgrading of our refiners. As for chemicals and new materials, the pilot tests for CHPPO of Tianjin Petrochemical Company and CHPBO of Yanshan Petrochemical Company were finished and put on stream, enriching the package of epoxy technologies for Sinopec. The pilot test of synthetic gas for olefin through two-pronged approach was completed in Yangzi Petrochemical Company, and put into operation in Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company, consolidating our strength in coal chemical business. Regarding new energy, technologies for PV to green hydrogen project in Kuqa, Xinjiang, were further developed, and the demonstration project of green hydrogen for refining and chemical was put into operation, making China, for the first time, connected all the industrial chain across 10,000-tonne-level green hydrogen and its refining and chemical utilization. In regards to environmental conservation, we developed a complete set of harmless treatment technology for zero landfill of multi-source solid waste and built a pilot plant to provide technical support for fostering a "waste-free Group".

New Stage in Digital Delivery

Our digital delivery continued to improve, and related projects such as Zhongke Refining and Chemical, Gulei Petrochemical, and Phase I of ZRCC Base were successfully accepted. The intelligent factory design and smart site construction for Tianjin Nangang, ZRCC Base, Yangzi Petrochemical, and Yizheng Chemical Fiber, continued to be upgraded. Pilot trials for intelligent operation and maintenance in areas as coal gasification equipment and anti-corrosion of the equipment rolled out. The construction of the refining and chemical engineering domain was comprehensively advanced, and the IT/IS application architecture 2.0 and the design of the full domain APP were completed. Three subsidiaries have passed the AAA level evaluation of the "IT application and industrialization" integrated management system for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Key breakthroughs have been made in standardizing key business processes, deepening the integration of management systems, internal control permissions, institutional processes, and operational management platforms.
