Recently, Sinopec (Hong Kong) Limited (“Sinopec HK”) has won the term contract in Hanoi, Vietnam to supply aviation fuel. After winning the bid, the business delegation of Sinopec HK also paid a site visit for a detailed observation on the handling operation procedures of at the berth and the tank farm capabilities.
Built upon the contract, the partnership bodes well for new vistas in aviation fuel.
Sinopec’s garden-like industrial parks and production sites have attracted some fantastic creatures. At an oil field in Colombia, capybaras, the indigenous animal of swamp, watch human beings working while they enjoy sunbath beside the pipeline. In Zhejiang, China, migrating egrets have got used to living in harmony with the production facilities within the petrochemical site of Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company (ZRCC). Every time when egrets fly back after their journey of migration, they would feel at home in the Egret Nature Reserve, an ecologically benign habitat for birds within ZRCC. Today, nearly 40 kinds of birds fly to this place regularly for nesting and breeding.

Jointly invested by Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (YPC), a subsidiary of Sinopec, and BASF-YPC Co., Ltd. (BYC), a JV between Sinopec and BASF, YPC-BYC Light Hydrocarbons Comprehensive Utilization Project has broken ground in Nanjing. It is another landmark project of the long-term cooperation between Sinopec and @BASF .
The project is comprised of a one-million-tonne steam cracker unit and 2 supporting units and associated utilities. The ethylene and propylene products of the new steam cracker will be supplied to YPC and BYC’s IPS III project as feedstock of their high-value-added downstream derivatives.
As a model project of China-Germany cooperation, the project will enable both sides to further build competitive advantages and work together for future development. More significantly, it is expected to take a leading position in the transformation and upgrading of petrochemical industry.
